It's A Rogue World Feat. What Decarboxylate Means and How to Use It In Hot Cocoa 12.16.24

This week, as temperatures dip, we've been thinking about being cozy which naturally leads us to hot cocoa. In this post we'll tell you what decarbing means and how it can create a magical cup of hot cocoa, plus we dive into a 10/10 perfect book, our current fashion obsession. Let's go!

10/10 Book: Circe by Madeline Miller

Circe by Madeline Miller is a beautifully written reimagining of the life of Circe, the witch from Greek mythology best known for her appearance in The Odyssey. The novel is a character-driven exploration of identity, power, and transformation, told from Circe’s perspective. Themes include identity and transformation, feminine strength, mortality and humanity. Miller’s lush prose brings a fresh perspective to ancient myths, turning Circe into a relatable and complex heroine. The book blends mythology with a deeply human story, making it both a homage to and a reinvention of Greek lore. Get that fire raging, make some infused hot cocoa (see below) and dive right in to this perfect book. No notes.

What Does It Mean to Decarboxylate Cannabis?

It is the process by which THCA is converted into THC, thus allowing for the wonderful effects you feel when consuming cannabis. There are several ways to do this, our favorite method is using our sous vide (check the recipe below).

Hot Cocoa for the Holidays: Infused Of Course!

Our favorite way to make hot cocoa is with milk, shaved chocolate, and decarboxylated cannabis. Obv topped with too much whipped cream.

  • 4 cups milk (preferably whole or do 2 cups half and half if you want it extra rich)
  • cup of your favorite chocolate grated or cut finely
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp of finely ground, decarboxylated cannabis (You can decarb easily by putting your ground cannabis into a sealed bag and using your sous vide for 90 minutes at 230°F)

1 Bring your milk to a slow boil on low in a heavy gauge sauce pan, whisking all the while.

2. Add in your chocolate and decarbed ground cannabis and stir until the chocolate is melted.

3 Add the vanilla off the heat

4 Top with whipped cream and anything else you'd like
